why a sliding scale

The purpose of the sliding scale is to separate the issue of money and treatment; we really want you to be able to come in often enough to get better and stay better! We use this method of determining treatment fees because:

  • Acupuncture works best with frequency and regularity
  • A sliding scale makes it possible for a greater number of people to receive treatments on a regular basis
  • We are committed to making acupuncture a viable preventative health service to individuals and communities

Community acupuncture provides an opportunity for individuals to practice collective communal compassion where those who are able pay more do, and those who cannot are still allowed access to quality care. This is a key component to developing strong societies, and strong communities. The average payment is right around the middle mark of $30; this allows us to continue providing this service for all.

Our practice is simplified to keep costs down. Because of this:

  • We do not file insurance claims or fill out any paperwork associated with health insurance.
  • In clinic payment is by cash, check or credit card at time of service.

Flex Account Acupuncture is typically covered through medical flexible spending accounts, or FSA. The medical expense FSA, or health FSA, debit cards are sometimes not accepted by our credit card processor; in this case, we can provide a receipt for your medical flex spending for an acupuncture treatment.

CCA receives no public or private funding; we are licensed acupuncturists who are dedicated to providing our services in a socially and financially inclusive way.

it's all about building community

We believe communities can support each other. Fees paid on the continuum of the sliding scale make acupuncture possible for more people in a community and helps to create a healthier community on all levels.

The sliding scale allows us to practice acupuncture as it is meant to be. The quality of our service remains the same. The more frequently people receive treatments, the more effective the treatment outcome. However, the sliding scale is not a "fast food" approach to acupuncture. It does not diminish the value of our service or the quality of acupuncture.
